Dr. Cara Dixon grew up in Rochester Hills, Michigan.  She did her undergraduate in Zoology at Michigan State University, graduating in 2001.  Dr. Dixon attended Ross University in St. Kitts, upon graduation she attended Purdue University fot her clinical rotations.  In October 2005 she got married.  While in Indiana she worked at a small animal and exotic clinic.  In February 2007 Dr. Dixon and her husband moved back to Michigan.  In March, she had a baby boy and is returning to work in May 2007.  She has a dog named Duckett and a siamese cat named Jada along with 12 turtles.
