Dr. Andrew S. Dworkis graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Michigan State University in 1968. He started his first practice in 1971. After founding and operating several veterinary hospitals in and around Detroit, he eventually formed and developed Professional Veterinary Hospitals (PVH). In 1993, Dr. Dworkis sold PVH and it became known as The Pet Practice, trading on the NASDAQ stock market. In 1996 it was renamed VCA.
Professional Veterinary Hospitals (PVH) developed and operated the first 24 hour hospitals in Michigan, created and funded a significant scholarship fund for veterinary students at MSU, founded and operated the first veterinary specialty clinic in the state, and employed the largest staff of veterinary technicians in a manner that has forever changed the way they are utilized in practice today.
In 2004 Dr Dworkis ended his retirement to open the DWORKIS DOG & CAT HOSPITAL (DDCH) in Southfield, MI. DDCH incorporates leading edge technology, creative pet service ideas, the latest in veterinary equipment, a beautiful, 6100 sq. ft. modern facility and the years of experience that he happily brings to his patients. Dr. Dworkis is thrilled to be back.
